How many MPG on a 94 5.9 gas 4X4
What kind of mileage could I expect to get on a 94 Dodge regular cab 4X4 gas burner with a 5.9 liter. I am considering the purchase of one that has 140,000 miles for about $2-2500. Is that a good price? Its all in good shape except big dent in the front bumper.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Have a dealership run the VIN number to see if the Recalls have all been done,
and whether the 9.25 differential or 46RH auto trans has been rebuilt.
If neither 9.25 or 46RH have been rebuilt have a pro carefully evaluated them.
Even though the truck price is $2500 repairs of those two items could easily
exceed the price.
Check for a puddle of oil that can be seen down the bores of the throttle body
(blown plenum gasket)
and pull all sparkplugs looking for oil or antifreeze...especially cylinders 7 & 8
Check out for yourself all the TSB's
and drive the truck enough to see if any of the symptoms
show themselves:

12 MPG for mixed driving is near average
but at a steady 60 mph on a blacktop highway
without much wind (and without 'mudder tires')
you should be able to get 18 MPG or better
and if not, there is something wrong with the truck.
