I'm looking to upgrade to a 2500. Currently have 97 1500 4x4 5.2 getting about 14-15 mpg. I need the 2500 for side work (construction) and occasional equipment hauling. I have located a 2001 2500 4x4 with 50,000 miles and the 5.9 V8 and a 2000 2500 4x4 with 74,000 miles and the V10. Is the V10 with the lose of fuel economy or will the V8 be sufficient for side work and the better mpg?

My family had a 1500 with the 5.9 for a little while. I pulled a 4 horse gooseneck loaded a couple of times (was prolly not legal I know) and it pulled it just fine. It just depends on what you will be pulling and how much.
