Dude you should only be looking a cummins they are the only Diesels that has the most life-to overhaul, The Cummis has less moving parts, bigger connecting rods, bigger berrings so most of the time less problems Also if you plain to tune her up not too many PSD motors will stay together when they're over 500 HP. Many Cummins are at 600+ HP and staying together.
Check out www. turbodieselregister.com if you want more info. on the Cummins.
But then again maybe i just say that because my dad works for cummins and my friend own and drives the cummins turbo diesel draster.

just the big thing with dodge is their auto trannys.. especially with 500+ horsepower behind them.. yeah they can get to 500 hp quick and somewhat cheap.. but you need to factor in a rebuilt tranny to handle that power.. your looking at 2,000+ alone for that
any truck that you add that much power to your going to need a new trany are you looking for auto or manual? my dad has a 97 cummins with a auto and he has a bank kit on and has Had no problems yet but its mostly the way you drive it.
auto.. i have a manual now and im tired of it.. i've been looking for a cummins and i cant find any 03's in my price range around here.. 2000-2001 f-250's i can find for around 18-20K
yea so you would be looking at the PSD 7.3L right? idk im just not a fan of how many diesels they have gone through kind of scary if you ask me. But i do know alot of people that like fords to.
duramax is really the way to go.. but cant afford it.. other then that i would like a cummins but with the options and standards im looking for.. ford seems to be the only 1 i'd like..

I was going to post alot of information and make someone look bad, but decided not to.
Just a FYI, 500hp is ENTIRELY achievable in a 7.3L.
Kyle, it might be a little better to post "I'm looking for a diesel that meets all of these aspects..." and then list what you want. IE, CrewCab, Automatic, 4x4 etc... otherwise you'll end up with people that will be giving you information that you really don't need. Expect the answers to be biased, mainly because of the site you're on.
Hope this helps.

Its a bit of a ride for you but if you have someone in the area that can look at one of these for you the guy is pretty good with prices. Im always sending people over there and stop in from time to time. if you see something you like I will be in the area possiblly next weekend have to go to my friends exhaust shop up the street. I can get more pictures for you.

I'd look for a Cummins first, the one I drove I fell in love with right away. '03 3500 dually LOADED to the gills with the 6 speed. But a Chevy if not a Dodge, I kinda stay away from Fords though [&:]
