rear disc question
I am planning on doing a rear disc conversion. I have talked to EGR brakes. I am thinking about useing stock rotors and calipers. EGR said that would probly work but after reading the other post about the proportioning valve I am not so sure. What are some other options?
It's a 97 1500. yes the rear... "rear disc question" (stated in title). EGR said that I could buy everything minus calipers and rotors. My dad owns an auto repair shop so I can get them cheap enough. I can find brake lines and such to make it fit. I was wondering if there were any other suggestions thats all.
You have a 1500. What is your rear axle? A 60?
Perhaps the EGR rear conversion for the 1/2 tons will let you use the same calipers front and back. You can't on the 3/4 and 1 tons.
Good luck.

Near the end of 2001 some models of the '2nd Gen' Rams got rear disc brakes
so it would be a good idea to look for a wrecked one of those as a donor.
The 9.25 differential has been so unreliable that if you are going to the expense and trouble of a rear conversion, why not take the extra step and get a Dana 60 differential out of a Ram 2500?

. . . also do they say the kit will bolt right on or is there going to be cutting and welding? 4 wheel disc would be nice though

What kind of problems do the 9.25 rears have? Is it going to be really hard to try and do this conversion? I really don't have the money for a whole rear axle froma 2500. In another post someone said something about a proportioning valve. will I have to do that as well?
