Cutting plenum runners?

Cutting plenum runners?
Its that time, I looked down the throttle body and theres that unwanted oil. I had a ? reference cutting the runners while I had the intake off. Has anyone experienced a loss of low end torque after cutting the runners. Long runners mean strong low end torque, restriction at high rpm. So before making the mod I was curious what others have experienced after cutting their runners?

RE: Cutting plenum runners?
Hughes engine recommends cutting the runners down to 14 inches in length and then port matching the intake ports using the intake gaslet as a reference. This moves the peak torque/hp range up a few rpm but it is more useful there, especially if you've done other mods, like throttle body, CAI, exhaust.
One of the things most intake grinders don't do that Hughes does, is fill the top part of the plenum using a aluminum epoxy. This cuts down on the total volume of the plenum, and increases the internal vacumn strength in the motor. I believe this benefits bottom end torque. Most porters avoid this because they don't know how much and where the putty goes. Luckily, I have an old Hughes catalog that shows a filled plenum.
I've seen other lengths recommended too, but Hughes advice has always worked for me.

RE: Cutting plenum runners?
Look at my second engine thread where I cut the runners down, but not like everyone else. My truck hauls my 18' trailer, with a load, and has excellent pulling power. I built the engine for hauling and am impressed with the 13.5mpg I'm calculating while pulling the trailer.
