i broke a vapor canister/s
Hello, Last night I was doing some 4x4ing. While easing down a moderate drop I scraped the bottom of my truck. Everything seemed fine until I was spraying off undercarriage and checking this morning - I noticed that them 2 small cylinder shaped and box shaped objects side by side underneath the truck on the passenger side had been snapped off the beackets and broke in half.
I pulled them both off and am still running the truck, my question is what exactly do these canisters do? It seems like 1 hose blows and 1 sucks and it's to prevent vapor from building up at some other location? That's my guess, can someone help me out and tell me how important these things are actually to have?? Thank You!

Hehehehehehhehheheh! I did that along time ago myself... I never got a check engine light because I only mauled one of them and drove the truck quite a while, but they do serve a function as far as limiting fuel vapors. One is a vapor seperator and the other is a charcoal canister. If both canisters were destoyed you'll probably get a light.
It's gonna cost ya about 80 to 100 bucks to replace 'em with new ones. Sounds like its time for more lift.

Yes indeed, I need a bit of a lift and some bigger tires! Thanks for the replys and No, No Check Engine light has come on yet. The Vapor canister broke where it bolts to the truck and cracked, the charcoal canister is fine but also had the mounts broke off. I just have them both disconnected for the time being and everything run's great atm, I'll get it put back together sometime within the next few days... Thanks!
