Default Oil Leak?

I was under the truck and noticed one single drop of oil on the bottom of the oil filter while the rest of the filter is clean. I also see there are four drops of oil on the garage floor below where the filter would be when parked. Last week I had the oil changed and these drips are new. Anyone know what the problem is and how I can fix it?

Try tightening the filter a bit (by hand). Wait until the engine's cool.

I've had this happen to me twice - the old rubber gasket from the oil filter stayed on the mount when I removed the filter. When I put the new filter on, I had two gaskets instead of one, and that doesn't work well. Luckily, they failed as my wife was pulling into the driveway, spewing oil from the bottom of her Dodge Caravan. The second time it happened, I noticed it when I removed the filter, because I check every time to make sure that old gasket comes off. Just a thought, you might want to check it out.

Thank you both as I will try tightening the filter and keep in mind it may have an extra gasket attached. Grateful.

Rubbing some oil on the rubber gasket will help it from sticking. It can melt onto the block if its hot and you don't put oil on it.

ive had a gasket stick before and put a new filter over it and the oil POURED out. there was no little drip about it. keep an eye on your oil level. if you have any reason to beleive that's your problem you should replace the filter immediately.
when you get under your truck bring a flashlight with you and look to see if you can see any oil on the engine around that area. it could be coming from somewhere else.

The filter will not seal with two gaskets. If there are two gaskets, it'll drain your pan within a minute when you first start it. (you'll definitely know there is something wrong). If you use grease on the seal insted of oil, it seems to work better than the oil.
