I don't know if it is "spec" or not, but I have always used 10W 30 Mobil 1. I have always used Fram filters also, but after looking at a filter test I had posted up on here a couple days ago I would get a Purolator, Motorcraft, or Wix filter....

I used to never run lighter than 10w40 but then moved to 20w50. When I switched to synthetic, I started using 5w50. I'm happy with it.

thanks for the answers. my friend who owns the parts store knew it was 10-30 so wasn't the problem i thought it was gonna be. sold me Valvoline dino, went with a Wix filter but the longer "ford style", not the short one spec'd for dodge. Cussed the whole time doing the change cuz whatever tech they had working at the dealer I bought this truck from decided both the drain and the filter would NEVER come loose if he was gonna have a say about it, lol. It's all good now.
