Irregular Shifting, help settle my nerves
My truck holds onto second gear way longer than it should, even when i let off the gas it still holds second gear for a second or two, and then shifts into third. Im perplexed, because theres no slipage, so it doesnt feel like an accumulator, it just holds the gear longer, and when it does shift its not hard or soft, its just normal. Any thoughts would be helpful.
Hey ... trannys are people, too.
Well ... come to think of it ... if you talk to them they'll probably think you're hitting on them ... you're right ... don't talk to trannys.
TV cable adjustment ... ?

you'll need someone to give you a hand to check your tv cable. have someone lay under the truck and make sure the your cable on your tranny and your throttle on your tb move simultaneous.
VFS solenoid in the valvebody can also cause the 2-3 shift to be delayed
as can the previously mentioned throttle valve connection,
and worn seals in the internal clutches
as described here:

Have you tried checking for error codes
by cycling the key ON/OFF two times, then leaving the key forward in ON
and depending on the model year of the truck
either counting the blinks of the check engine light
or reading the code in the digital trip counter readout of the odometer?
If you are reading the blinks of the check engine light
be prepared to do it three or four times
to be certain you are reading the pauses between blinks correctly.
Considering the expense involved if the trans fails prematurely
it might pay you to drop the pan
inspect what metal shaving are present on the pan bottom (aluminum and brass)
and on the magnet in the corner of the pan,
change the inlet filter
use the most modern gasket with the inserts
then refill with fresh Mopar equivalent ATF type 9602 (ATF+4)
also now available at Walmart.

Governor pressure solenoid and switch, drain your fluid, replace with ATF+4, new filter adjust bands and when you fill it back up, add some TransX (autozone/napa) to the tranny to help with any sticking valves and seals. I had the same problem and it worked for me, until I blew my front band and said the hell with it and had a custom tranny built.

Actually it did, solved my shifting problem for about 25,000 miles, then my front band was worn so bad that the adjuster arm that pushes against the band fell on top of my VB, now with 180,000 on the original tranny, i can't complain, I actually was driving it up to the day the new tranny came. The governor solenoid/switch recommendation came from Dan "the Fastman" Arcand and fixxed the issue @ hand @ the time.
