Is this a good combo for a burnout competition truck?!
Who else think that this combo of engine and carb would make a killer truck for burnout competitions? The truck is a 95 Dodge Ram single cab longbed Magnum V8 2wd automatic tranny. Here is my plans for an engine a 472 Hemi Crate engine from Jegs, with cast iron heads, forged steel crankshaft - 4.150" stroke, heavy-duty single valve springs with dampers, putin out around 525 horsepower, and 540 ft lbs of torque. And sitting on top, a Demon 1000 cfm drag carburetor. I think that would do great burnouts, and kick some butt on the quarter mile! Tell me what ya think! [&:]
excatly right, one hell of a burnout rig. but you would probably get spanked at the track. to much power, truck would not hook at all unless a serious four link was involved
no sure why that carb would be any better for burnouts than any other carb.i dont think carbs are built to specific burnout specs. more like horsepower or flow rate specs. if your looking for a burnout king you should be looking at trans and rear gears rather than carb. just pick a carb that flows what you ,otor needs and thats all pretty straight foward.
something that is always overlooked but sometimes needed and should be wanted.. get a linelock/roll control. 525 is alot of power.. but eventually the tires will start melting and getting traction.. a linelock made the difference of me going home early from hitting secondplace in a burn out comp .. and this was with my 5.9L midly worked..

Have to agree with superdak05 ... you'll be making one hell of a burnout machine ... but you'll have WAY too much power for the weight balance on the truck. At the strip, you'll just sit there melting your tires down. I really don't think you can do both.
... unless you mounted a second engine in the bed ... that would look so efin' cool.

I may be wrong but I would think you would want a short wheel base because the drive shaft is shorter thus more power gets to the ground (which is apparently right where you want it)
i cant imagine the difference of a short/long bed or reg cab/ext. cab reducing that much power that you cant make up by jamming on the gas more..
check out the video link i posted above.. your really not gonna need 500+ HP to smoke show ... that video is of my truck.. midly worked with a stock LSD in the rearend... i snaged 2nd place that night..

I know that 500 hp is more than needed, I just want it to say I got it! And the engine would sound so good with wide open side pipes! When I go for something, I go all out, so 500 hp is just right, when I put all the parts on it, it would prob be pushin 700 hp! And the whole reg cab thing, ext cab, and long bed short bed, I was just sayin what the trucks got.
