Solenoid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My father's 98 ram with 170k did this, he talked to a transmission guy that told him there is an OD solenoid with a little spring it in that goes bad and locks it out of OD, they guy gave him a rebuild kit for free, my father rebuilt the solenoid and it worked like it was brand new.
