I've seen many posts about problems people had with Hypertechs Hyperstat. I'm using it, and it seems fine, but any old 180 would work. Napa seems to be the one of choice. Steve wrote up once how to drill a hole in it to make getting the air out of the system easier. Might want to try that.

hmm alright, are they expensive? I guess I could pick one up and do this the day I put on the fastman since the instructions to replace t-stat in hypertech manual say to remove tb, doesn't seem that hard of an installation.

the other thing to mention is while you swap the t-stat, take time to flush your motor and refill it with distilled water instead of tap with your mix. if you have any blockage in the heater core it'll perform like crap. I never had any heat issues with my 180 t-stat installed...
When exactly does the coolant come out of the system, when you disconnect the radiator hose to get to the t-stat housing? How do you flush all of the coolant out?

I just put the 195* thermostat back in, but we just had a cold snap (-32*C,-26*F). I still had heat but could use a little more. I'm also running the autolite #3923's so the engine was running quite cool.Last year it only got down to -15*C, 5*F, I was running platnium plugs and the heat was decent. This year I decided to run the 195* with the autolites, but I also set my truck back to stock for the winter as all I'm doing is spinning my tires in the snow with the extra hp.

You could try mid-grade fuel and see if it helps and that way it doesn't set you back as much at the pump as premium would.

I would flush it before you swap the t-stat... do it by draining out all the coolant, filling up with tap water and run it until it's warmed up again and drain. make sure your heater is on full heat. do this several times until you get clear water out. once you have clear water out, flush it with the prestone coolant flush additive. follow the instructions and when you drain it, if you find brown water coming out, flush again like you did the 1st time around until the water is clear. then you know you have removed as much of the crap as you can. then swap the t-stat and refill with the antifreeze mix & distilled water.

you should be good to go then.

yeah you should flush the coolant once a year.

I had the dreaded T-stat leak that I never fixed because through out the year I had to add 1 bottle of coolant and 1 bottle of water every year. So there was my flush. LOL

Na, I flushed it every other year though.

I know a spark plug is a spark but if you takl to anyone who has been around any typw of automotive stuff they will tell that certain vehicles run better on certain plugs. Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep need to run on Champion plugs. It wont be a difference you feel, but it does make a huge difference. Take my advice for what it's worth.

A "huge difference" how? Can you elaborate? I'm asking becasue in one sentence, you say that certain vehicles run better with certain plugs, but then you say you won't be able to feel it?????

If it's a difference you can't feel, then I would hardly call it huge, I would call it an insignificant difference, which is what it really is.
