Default 2500-3500 suspension onto 1500

I Have been wondering if you can take the stock trailing arms and the springs out of a 2500 0r 3500 and acheive a lift for a 1500 or would that even work together.. Because I've heard that the 2500 sit taller and have longer trailing arms.. If i can get 3-4" out of just switching some things then I can do a shakle flip kit on the rear to raise the rear?? Any suggestions on a way for a semi cheap lift?? I'm not to sure I just can't afford a lift yet so I was wondering what I can come up with or anyone has tried and has worked for them...

I've also wondered the same thing. I own a 1500 as well and whenever a 2500 drives by it makes my truck seem like a little sissy. Will it work? I'm sure we could find any parts needed from a junked 2500 donor truck at a salvage yard... I do alot of traveling on some extremely rough dirt roads as well and I wish I had some stronger, heavy duty suspension under me to take the beating. 2500/3500's have a nice lifted stance, I admire it lol. Looks tough... Can it be done with basicly a direct swap!?

I beleive you can swap the front coils over from a 2500 to a 1500, there are a few members here who have done so IIRC?? Using the 2500 HD coils from a truck with either the CTD or 8.0 L will give you 2-3" of lift on the front side, but will also stiffen up your ride considerably. Do a search in the 2nd gen form for more information on this, and up in one of the tacked posts at the top of the 2nd gen form, there should be a chart with part numbers for all the coils DC used in the trucks..

Well I'm still trying to figure out how High I want to go and if I want to build a lift kit with the tools I have It should be easy and a lot cheaper in the long run. I'm just not sure yet so any input on the swap and any other input you may have please let me know I'm up for Ideas.

if any looks here again. i put front springs in from a 5.9 gas 2500 and skyjacker add a leafs into rear leafs. got about 3 inchs front and 3-3.5 in rear. sits just below a 2500 (tires) and is just higher than a 1500 off road which has a taller tire anyway. total cost was $250. and ride is stiffer but it fells like a real truck and no movement with bed loaded and nose dont move more than 1/2 inch with steel 7.5 fisher plow.
