Default Engine Squeek?

Was driving my 2001 Ram 5.2 yesterday and noticed a loud engine squeek or squeel sound as I sat at idle. I raised the hood with the engine running and tried to figure out if it was a pulley, the power steering pump, or the compressor. I couldn't figure out exactly where the sound was coming from but I'm sure I can find it.Does a squeeking component as I mentioned requireareplacement? Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks in advance for comments/suggestions.

take your belt off and see if any of the pullys are loose or give them a spin to see if the grind, most likely its a idler pully or tensinor pully.

Last time I heard a squeak under the hood the water pump broke. Fortunately it wasn't my truck.[8D]

I had a bad squeek about a month ago and it ended up being the pulley on the alternator. Tried some belt ease and it would stop it for a few seconds, then it was very easy to pinpoint when it started again. I also ended up changing the serpentine belt after I had covered it in belt ease.

If it does prove to be a pulley I assume it willneed to be replaced? Should I first try lubricating the belt? Thanks in advance.
