Default Delamination :(

From what i have read on here, the cause comes from the primer not bonding to the e-coat at the factory. I took it to a paint shop and the guy told me it was caused because the "under" layer of paint was not completely dry when the clear coat was applied. I have heard that a few people have gotten Dodge to take care of the problem, what is it that you tell them to get them to take care of it? Where can i find evidence that this is Dodge's fault? And, why is it you have to be the original owner to get them to take care of it?

Yeaa. I'm wondering if my bed is doing that. The paint on my passenger side is bubbling up, but when it peals, its not rusted at all underneath. Its just black primer. I have no idea why, but its pissin me off at about $100 buks a pint for that yellow.

The top of my roof did that and i had a friend paint it and now the top of my hood and fenders are doing it.I am also having another friend fix it.GM had the same exact problem in the late 80s and early 90s its not the primer thats going bad its the topcoat.I been around and worked for body shops many years and you hear so many different things. To me i believe that the curing process wasnt drying fast enough to apply the topcoat or that the metal and the primer was so hot from baking it didnt give the proper curing it needed. But since my truck is black and here in florida the darker paints taking a brutal beating from the sun its tough to keep them looking good. You see alot of cars with the delamanation that the clear is baked off right to the basecoat.Once your truck is repainted let the paint sit and breathe for like 4-6 weeks so it has time to properly cure.If you wax it beofre then your liable to sufficate the paint and it will dull on you faster then you`ll believe..

thanks

I have no paint on my hood, roof, top of fenders, the tailgate and a little down the sides of the bed (just primer). I too have heard anything from poor paint from the supplier to the primer being a water base and the paint being an oil base. Regardless, I am the 2nd owner and I had absolutely no luck in getting DC to fix it. Every single paint place wants to take it down to bare metal before they paint it if that tells you anything.
