What does your warranty cover?

Well, the 'bottom line' in the 'real world'
is that a warranty covers any thing
that a small claims court judge
in your piece of the USA
says it does.

If you get an award from a small claims judge for $4000
to repaint your old truck because of defective primer
DCx can't afford to pay lawyers to appeal it
as that would cost more than $4000 easily.

I think that most 1992-2001 Ram owners who read internet posts
know that in addition to the peeling paint
the steel 'plenum plate and gasket' of the 5.2/5.9 V8s
was defective and should have been repaired by Dodge
for free, with an all new plastic intake manifold that had
no plenum plate at all.

You can make a strong case that the majority of Magnum cylinder heads are found to be cracked, especially on cylinders 7 and 8.

The D-ring seals in 1992-1995 46RH automatics were also defective.
The VFS in valve body of 1996-2003 46RE automatics was also defective.

On the 2003-2005 5.7 Hemi's the 'hemi tick' problem is also a defect that would be so costly to fix on all Rams that DCx is hoping most owners will live with it.

Find me a vehicle in the Southwest (Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and even Utah and Nevada) where the finish hasn't been baked or faded from the intense sun.

ORIGINAL: IndyRamMan
i was wondering what caused the pealing of the paint in certian spots of my truck, and i asked my paint guy, he said without hesitation, ****ty primer from the factory.
My 92 Sonoma did that. Was caused by a new water based primer the EPA was trying to require in the late 80's -early 90's. Genereally it was certain colours (metallics mainly) that did the delamination. My Sonomas wasnt (truck was Real teal solid. Rare colour (ugly) only offered in 92). Truck was within teh 100K mile body warranty (truck was 3yrs old when it started)and still had to fightwith GMC about it. After 2 months they finally agreed. Then they wouldnt let me take it to the Chevy dealer for warranty because it was a GMC.[:@]GMC's body shop did a half assed job, left my flares (they took them off) in teh bed, sanding dust on teh headliner and found out when I went to replace the brakes the next week those asshats cranked down on teh frontrims to about 200ft lbs (factory alloyts that shouldnt had been more than 85). Went to a tire shop and they broke an impact trying to get them loose. Needless to say when GMC called a couple days later for a customer survey they got an earfull. 2 or 3 weeks later I drove by the GMC dealers bodyshop mgrs house on teh way home, he flipped me off. I guess GMC came down hard on the dealer.

Ford, GM and Chrysler all had issues with this during that era. Even today some newer cars of theirs will still do this.Rarer now, but still probable.
