Price to fix plenum gasket...
Well, it has to get done. Been putting it off WAY to long and Im starting to feel bad for the truck. Especially with winter here and me driving it more and more. Been pinging, using oil, starting to loose some mpg.....my Dad talked to a guy that does stuff on his own, kinda has his own shop. Hes a dodge guy, and when my Dad told him my symptoms he said its the gasket, which I knew....but he said aboit $4-500 to replace it. Is that a good/bad/ok price? I know everyone is going to say do it myself, I would, but I dont have the time. Im very busy with things and just dont have the time. Itd just be way to nice to drop the truck off and have it done and pick it up. Normally I do all my own stuff, but with this, I just dont have the time. Im going to call Dodge and see what they say for a price, which I know will be off the wall, but I thought someone said they had dodge do it for like 4-500. Anyways, I dont know yet if Im getting the intake plenum fix kit....I think the entire kit is like $130ish? Someone said that dodge now has a new aluminum or something gasket for these intakes? Or should I go felpro? Thanks all!
go with the felpro gasket and if funds are available for the kit, get the kit. I did 2 updated mopar gaskets and they both leaked. the price quoted is not un-reasonable, someone who knows what they're doing and has all the tools can get it done in 4~5 hours. there is a DIY writeup in the DIY forum if you want an idea of what needs to be done. worth looking at.
I could probably do it myself, its just the time constraint now. I have read the DIY several times though.
***EDIT*** just got off the phone with my dad and he said the guy has done them before and he said that the $400-500 price includes the plenum kit from hughes or one of the companys, the aluminum pan and all...so for 400-500 if it does in fact include the full kit so it doesnt happen agian, Im def. getting it done. I think thats more then a fair price, plus he said it might be less then $400.

I currently have an intake manifold leaking anti-freeze and the shop quoted me $350. The plenum gasket replacement only takes an additional 20 to 30 minutes so your price does sound like a good one.
By the way. I'm doing the entire job myself and already have the APS billet aluminum plenum. So the total cost will be the price of a gasket set, one oil filter, 5 quarts of oil, and 2 gallon on anti-freeze. Less than $75.

Dodge quoted me just under $500 in labor plus parts. I decided to do it myself. If the price includes the repair kit that seems pretty decent.
Edit:Of course that's Canadian

if it includes the kit, and time is a problem, go for it.... you would learn alot by doing it yourself, that is priceless.. however if you dont have time, do what you have to do to get it fixed...
I just got mine replaced at the dodge dealership where I bought the truck, it was $316, and the dealer covered half since I was only a month outside of my warranty. They said that they have never had a repeat problem of the plenum needing to be replaced a second time.
