Default shifting problems-- 1997 2500

truck: Dodge ram 2500
year: 1997
engine 5.9l 360cui

I have a problem with my transmission, ill let the truck warm up and get to operating temp and go driving with it for the first 20-30 min the truck is shifting great both up and downshifting, then it starts to hunt for gears and will go to about 2500-2700 rpm to shift, the fluid level is correct and fluid was just recently changed, it doesnt make sence cause it shifts fine when warm and then all of a sudden...

My first thought is band adjustments. Were they accomplished when the pan was off for the fluid change?
