ok, so i went to grab some food and noticed that the tailight was working, but was constant, it was on all the time and not just when i applied pressure to the brake... also, it was only working when the headlights were on??? i am confused

OK it sounds like you have a running light working. One of the wires from the trailer light should be a running light. After the ground connection, Try different wires on the tail light and the dimmer one will be the one thatworks with the headlights on. The brighter one will be for the brake and turn wire.
I'm doing the night shift so won't be able to look at mine till 6:30 AM.

Is the other side working OK???

yes, the other side works fine... i'm tryin to get a half *** taillight put together on the side that got all fubar'd in the accident

so, i have the wrong existing wires connected?? or the wrong trailer lights connected to the yellow/black wire??
