Wreck follow up: Tailgate wiring help
Is it possible i could rig some half *** taillight with the following wires??? The tail light assembly was completely blown to smitherines in the wreck and all that is left are these 3 wires, and 2 more that were cut off due the wreck (purple/black and yellow/black i believe).
Due to the accident I've decided to move back to Colorado (financial and personal reasons) and i was wondering if there was a way to rig up some half *** tail light with the wires available to make my truck somewhat street legal again

the trailer light has 3 wires, a ground, Brown (turn signal), and green (brake light).... I've grounded the white and i've tried connecting the green (brake light) to the other existing wires and i get nothing.
Could it be a possibilty a fuse got blown or something??
I usually don't fool with wiring because it is a pain the *** (IMO) and this just makes me dislike it more

i bought a chilton's manual today and has a wiring diagram but i still can't decipher which wire does what, the existing wires are 2 black, 1 violet/black, 1 yellow/black and green/black??? or solid green i don't remember the 5th one off hand, if you could help that would be great, this taillight seems so simple but im not able to get this thing working
Swing back buy auto parts store or borrow a test lightfrom some one.
The brake andturn signallight should use the same wire.
The running light will be another.
The back up will be another
Then a ground
Connect the test light to a good ground source such as a bolt or new shreaded metal.
Turn on the parking lights and stick the tip of the test light on the wire ends making contact with the wire. Once that one is found do the same for brake and turn signal. Then find the reverse and tape it up unless you have a clear bulb to use for it. Make sure the other side is working OK in case the wires happen to feed the other side. Any wires that are the same color should probably be connected together.

I'm looking at the Merry Christmas manual and it looks as though the Black/yellow is the running light. Black is ground.
Violet/black is back up lights
dark green/redto orDark green/brown is left turn and stop
Brown/red right turn

Sounds good, but a test light might help. Oh yeah the set up is a test light.
Hook up the ground and see which one makes what work. Try not to touch the side of the truck with the wires, would need more fuses then.
