Default What Tranny Oil to use?

So I am having some vibration noise in Final drive. It appears to only happen with O/D on. It may be my Lock out valve in the tranny but i wanted to start by changing my tranny oil and filter and adding some additive to it. I've spent a few minutes trying to find this information out on this site. However I cant find it and the site is running slow.. (maybe my internet) The Manual says to use ATF+3... What the hell is this?
I know it stands for Automatic Transmission Fluid but i dont know or even see a +3 at the local car shops.

Any recomendations on the the oil additive? The manual says not to use any and I just purchased the Gressed lighting...

Thank you for the help in advance....

So if i go up to the AutoZone clerks, they will actually know the type i am looking for? +4 is safe to use in a tranny asking for +3? I was a little scared to ask the Clerks because i didnt want to put my trucks life into their hands
What actually does the +3,+4 stand for?

Maybe at the dealership they feed you that story, but I can buy +3 at Advance Auto Parts anytime.
That's how I know +4 costs a lot more, I just got done with the trans fluid + filter thing yesterday or day before.

Don't let them rip you off, I always get a 2nd opinion unless I trust the mechanic 100%.

ATF+4 replaces ATF+3.

Valvoline has been licensed to make it and its available at Autozone, Walmart, Napa, etc. Other oil companies will be providing it soon. Its expensive, about $4.50 - $4.99 per quart. Its full synthetic, and you should not add any additional additives.
