Default Need y'alls input folks..

Ok, making it as short as I can ok....Had a 2004 Dakota and sold/traded it for a 2006 Pontiac Vibe due to gas prices..Realized about 2 weeks later I was born to drive a truck and I made a mistake ok...Well, been looking for a good new/used replacement that won't kill my pocketbook and found a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab 5.2 with only 53000 miles on it, and I "think" I can get it for less than $8000....does that sound good or no ? I know I don't have a pic or anything right now but I drove it today and the folks seem to have taken really good care of it and are the original owners....I ran the VIN and it's clean except for a warranty catalytic converter change and the brakes were done in 2006, as well as new tires...Only things I can think I might do if'n I get it are trans fluid/gasket change and full ignition tune up..Any and all help/advice/input would be appreciated..And again, it "looks and drives" great.......

Thanx tim....And as a matter of fact, i was already pretty sure I was gonna offer him $7500 after doing more research..I don't wanna screw him or anything but he hasn't done the tranny or radiator flush, or a complete tune up and I know that's gonna jump in the $250-$350 range if I get it done by someone else...Thanx for the input; it's REALLY appreciated...I love my little Vibe but man, it ain't a truck and that's the whole story ...ha ha

sounds alright.. before you give him money, id go through it with a fine tooth comb and drive it at least twice ,, seperate times each.. and if you do get it.. its imperitive that you change ALL fluids and do a full tune up so you have a good baseline to start from regardless of what the previous owner and or dealer tells ya... coolant, rear diff, tranny, t-case (if applicable) oil etc etc .. plugs wires cap rotors, rotate the tires, .. thatll give you a great starting point to continue areligious type maintence schedule!

And that's alot of the reason I plan on offering him $7500 versus the $8500 he was "asking"...I did a lot of research and noticed he wouldn't get anything more than maybe $6500 from a dealer AND he want's my Vibe so I'm just hoping the $7500 offer is a really good one for both of us.....And yeppirs, if it all goes according to plan, I'll have it in the driveway in the next few days and just enjoying....And I will defiitely do ALL the fluid changes and basically have it from scratch..I just couldn't believe the shape it was in as well as the low mileage....We'll see..

Not 4wd...Laramie SLT in white with gray lower fascia....It's really good looking and drives great; just wanting to be sure the price was good....He sent me a KBB quote showing $9500 but he also thought it was 4 wheel abs and added the price of the added on multi disc cd changer.....I'm thinking I'll offer him between $7500-$8000 and see what he says, letting him know that I still gotta do a full fluid change, full tune up, etc.....

Doesn't seem out of line. I paid $6600 for a '98 with a 5.2 and quite a few more miles on it. I don't get too concerned 'bout the miles though. As long as it runs and drives O.K. I used to work in a machine shop and rarely saw a 5.2 come in for a rebuild. Now, 350 Chevys, there's another story.

Well, I emailed him and offered him $7695 so we'll see.....He really wants the car and I wouldn't mind having the truck, but just know I'm gonna spend a few dollars if'n I get it to get it up to my specs and have everything "new" in it ya know..Appreciate the heck out of y'alls input and if he does accept the offer I'll definitely be a regular in here...

Even if he's stuck on $8000, a '99 quad cab with 53,000 miles is still a good price I think. Just look at what a dealer would ask for a truck like that. Good luck.
