I bought a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 Extended cab. They said it had the off road package. What are some easy ways to verify that?

 

Go to a dealer, give them the VIN number and ask them to print off a "build sheet" for you. It will list all the equipment and options the truck originally came with.

My truck doesn't have that option so I'm not sure exactly how its listed. It may not say "off road package", but may list the components that are part of the package like upgraded shocks, tires, skid plate, etc.

 

It's not even remotely possibly that you have the off-road package because that particular package debuted in 2000.

 

Yup, no off-road package in '96. Might have had the Sport package though.

 

Any idea what was included in the Sport package for '96?

 

Nice catch guys...the '96 didnt register with me.

 

The Sport Appearance Package adds body color front bumper and grille, raised white
letter tires and fog lamps.
