99 Ram 1500 4x4 lift???
Hey whats up everyone,
I am 16 and drive a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2L 4x4 extended cab
I am fairly new to the forum but i was wondering what lift i should put on my truck. I am getting into off roading and i want to find a lift that will be up to that. Im not sure how big of a lift but i was thinking of something between 3-6 and i figured i could get some help from you guys. Whats the best lift without breaking the bank? What size should i get? Where should i get it? Any other helpful things like (what is the best aggressive tire for on and off road) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

Hey Mike,
I put a 3" Suspension lift on my truck from TopGunCustomz, check them out they have good lifts, i wouldnt recommend anything over 3" unless you want to really get into minor-moderate fabrication and more labor intensive installation. The 3" was a breeze to install and imho it looks amazing, once I get tires which i sure i will be doing soon since mine are on their last months i will be getting 295/75/16's because i do believe that they will fit, i think it depends on the type of off roading you are doing for a tire, i cannot help you with tires though as i am myself still researching them and have been for weeks. Im looking into a Nitto Terra Grappler A/T, maybe idk yet.
Best of luck,
Joe

what brand of a lift did you get? Did it come with spring spacer and rear block or new spring and add-a-leaf. I heard that the rear blocks arnt good and the best way is to go with add-a-leaf.

If your actually going to wheel it and now be a Mall Crawler like me, don't skimp, especially in the begining. I'd go with a 5" and 35" tires. SkyJacker makes good stuff and have proven they're stuff many times.
Also if you plan to wheel don't get spacers, get full 5" coils and lift springs, or a shackle reversal.

Yes AAL is better then blocks for the rear but i dont have problems w/ the blocks, it is a customs kit from top gun customz, its pretty neat they make their own spacers, the shocks are rough country brand. the main problem w/ blocks is that there is only so much from preventing axle wrap ur basically giving the axle leverage on the leafs where as with a AAL its spread out more.
