Brake Problems
Ive been having a problem with my 99 Ram 1500.
When the truck gets more than about 50 miles on it in a single use, or when ever there is enough time on it to get the brakes good and hot they pulse like hell.
They DO NOT do it when they are cold, or just small driving trips.
This was so bad at times it would shake me in the seat, and I could hear things rattling.
I tryed disabling the ABS system and that helped nothing, just made the truck constantly lock the rear wheels under almost no braking at all.
I replaced the front pads, refinished the pins, and added grease.
I had a REALLY bad front passenger side wheel bearing, and I got that replaced and I think it was contributing to it somewhat... Although a have felt the truck surge a little bit when using the brakes...
There is also slight brake squealing a few minutes before it starts acting up.
There is a slight 'warpedness' to my rotors, but not anywhere near as bad as it got a few times.
I haven't actually got it to do it after the wheel bearing was replaced, but it seemed like it was going to at times.
Also, when this does happen the brakes get EXTREMELY sensitive.
I am going to replace the rotors anyway just because they are kind of ridged.
Has anyone had, or herd of a problem like this?
I have a sneaking suspicion that the wheel bearing was what was causing it somehow... But just curious as if it happened to anyone else.

sometimes heat can cause metal/steel to warp and return to is shape when cooled. i do nopt believe the bearings were contibuting problem to the brakes BUT the calipers on my car were bad so i replaced them 3times before i relized the pins the the calipers slide on didn't allow the calipers to expand when the brake is released. i went to the parts store and we opend at least 4 boxes before i found 2 calipers the had the pins move freely. So, take the calipers off and if the bolt/pin that holds the caliper on do not move easily the replace them untill you find a set that gives you the movement and replace the rotors like you were going to any way
Good luck
Good luck
