Transmission Band problem
I bought a 2001 Ram 1500 5.2L just after Thanksgiving. 60000mi. It had problems with the TPS causing it to surge/drop out of overdrive. I replaced the TPS and have not had that problem since. I decided to drop the transmission pan & replace the filter & gasket just to be safe. No problem. I also adjusted the bands which seemed simple enough. I am thoroughly embarrassed to say that I misread the (in lb) specs on the adjustment screw and overtightened them both before I realized what I had done. The front adjustment on the outside of transmission case actually made a pop sound when I was initially trying to torque to tight. I backed them both off and adjusted them to the correct specs. Filled will Mopar fluid. It runs fine but the transmission wants to hold first gear up to 2800-3000 RPM before shifting to second even under minimal load. In second if I get into the gas more than half throttle it starts to slip. If I do not back off the throttle it will downshift to 1st. Once I get to 3rd -4th grear it seems fine. I am afraid to cause more damage.
Is there anything I can do? Will the transmission need rebuilt or can a transmission shoppossible repair? I just want to get some idea what may have broke so I do not get taken at the repair shop.
Thanks,
Jeff

sounds like you broke the front band adjuster strut. shes gonna have to come out and apart to repair. If you don't do a full overhaul at this time atleast rebuild the overdrive section as these are the weak link in our tranys
