Did I fry my tranny?
Hi everyone. I am so glad I found this site. I need some help with a transmission problem. From what I have read on this site, a lot of you have the same problem. Here is what happened.
After pressure cleaning my truck's engine, transmission, and floorboard, my truck will not shift into 3rd or 4th gear. Did I get a solenoid or something wet? The transmission was running absolutely perfect before I cleaned the truck. It was totally rebuilt 7000 miles ago.Last night I tried something I read on here. I disconnected the batter for 30 minutes to reset the computer. It actually worked andstarted shifting again. But then, I drove it again this morning and it isn't shifting again. What is going on? Thank you so much.

i would say you got water into a solenoid or something. is there water in your tranny fluid? i cant imagine so.i have always washed the underside ofall my trucks just as much asi wash the truck which is usually once a week and ive never had this problem.so unless you got water in your tranny i would say its a solenoid is it real cold were you are? maybe the solenoid isicing up.it happened to my uncles 06 ford ranger it.the 4x4 just stoopped working so i unplugged the transfer case and reconnected it problem solved.
Actually, I am in South Florida. It's really not cold here. Last night I think it got down to 65 degrees, would you consider that cold? Any idea what solenoid it would be? I was thinking maybe the overdrive solenoid but it couldn't have gotten any more wet than driving in the rain would get it wet. It is well hidden. Can any of you tell me where the computers are in these trucks? I actually took all the seats and flooring out of the truck and sprayed the interior as well. I checked all the fuses and relays, but they were good. The transmission shops are closed here on Saturdays.
im pretty sure wait a bit and see if she dries up, i washed mine at the .25c car wash and the underside as well about a week ago and got something wet that in overdrive made it drive rough and bucky and the next day and still its fine now.. course it was like 20-30* here the whole time urs sounds a lot wetter and worse hopefully w/e it is it goes away..
maybe the wat loosened a ground wire or something, how much pressure did you put on the trans. maybe the water pressure allowed water to get into a connector and with it being sealed again the water cant dry
just a thought........good luck

Pop all three connectors off the PCM and blow them dry. IIRC, the first 2 shifts (1-2, 2-3) are mechanically controlled and the third (3-4) is electronically controlled. I hear of a lotpeople having problems withvarious thingsafter pressure washing their engine compartment... usually caused by a waterlogged PCM.
