Default leaking coolant from bellhousing

Ive checked all hoses, intake manifold gasket and can't seem to find where this leak is comeing from. I dont know if there are freeze plugs on the back side of the block between the engine and transmission, but that is where the coolant is dripping from. Any help would be great.

welcome to DF... I recall some threads on this issue a while back... it was determined that there are 2 freeze plugs on the back of the block. I hope for your sake one of them is not leaking...

Well it just so happens that one of them is, while i was waiting for someone to reply i went ahead and pulled the tranny, moved it back just far enough to get a look at the block and there it was the drivers side freeze plug just dripping away. I figured it had to have one, where else would the water have been comeing from. thanks for the info. Now time to get back under the truck.

if possible, can you take a picof the back of the motor and post it? also, if there are 2 back there, swap them both.

Sure i will post it in a few. I have never done a freeze plug and am wondering if there are any special tricks or tips that will make it easier, and by the way how are you supposed to pull the plug out?

a hammer socket that fits in the freeze plug a swivel if needed and extensions if needed and use a hammer and screwdriver to hit the old one out and pliers to pull it out of the block...thats what i use and it works good so good luck to you
