for the 4X4 delay.. next time you put it in and take it out.. try this

cruising whatever speed (below 30 is "correct") shift into 4wheel and if the light doesnt come on.. let off the throttle a wee bit and get back on it.. it will kick in.. samething with taking itout.. put the shift back into 2HI and if the light stays on then let of the throttle a smidge and get back on it... like said above.. vacume operated

haha, i've been coming to a complete stop to shift in and out of 4x4 lol.

I read once that if your vacuum actuated 4x4 doesn't want to engage or disengage quickly, and you have the heat or defrost on, to shut off the defrost or heat quickly. This sends a burst of vacuum through the lines after the vent closes and will help engage/disengage a stuck 4x4 actuator. I tried it a few times, and it worked sometimes, and then not others, so it could have just been a cooincidence the times it worked. Moslty, I only have occasional issues going in and/or out of 4x4 when it is extremely cold outside, and the truck is not warmed up at all, but usually it works fine.
