Default ram 1500 Fog lights

just thought about an issue i had with my ram and its fog lights and what i did to fix it.. My fog lights quit working.. all the other lights work fine.. the switch for it was built into the headlight switch.. i.e turn on the headlights and PULL the switch out and the fog lights would come on... turned out.. behind that switch is a very small contact.. that is only held on by a small plastic piece.. the plastic broke off and that small metal contact was laying in the bottom of the switch (had to take the switch apart). Instead of buying a new switch.. i took a very small drill bit and drilled a hole down the shaft of the switch.. where the plastic piece broke.. then put the contact on with a small dab of super glue (just to hold it there) then drilled a screw from an old pair of sunglasses into the hole.. and it held it in there.. still works great.. when taking the switch apart.. be careful.. there are some loose parts in it after you take it apart.. just remember how the little rollers go back in.

Same thing just happened to my switch. I just bit the bullet andpurchased a new switch from the dealer and installed it myself.

Mine did the same thing, it was like $80-100.00 to replace it from dealer. There is a small clip that attaches to the button rod that goes through the switch, at the end of that rod is a what is best described as a copper ring, when you turn headlights on and pull switch the copper ring makes contact with the circuit making your fog-lights work, I tried many times to repair mine(super, double sticky, gorilla glues, hot glue etc etc...)but in the end I just had to replace it.

To avoid having to replace it again, when you turn on your headlights, dont pull the fog switch at the same time, wait till parking/headlights are on full and then pull switch out, will avoid a bind in that copper ring. Just don't pull as you turn.

The switch cost me $76.71 + Tax. I could have gotten it from makeitmopar.com for $50 plus shipping but I couldn't wait for it. I already had the dash apart for installing a new CD player and I wanted to just get it all back together.
