what do i need (besides the tranny itself) to swap over to an auto in a '99 ram 1500 5.2L 2WD?

 

some spare time? probably a column from an auto, unless you can rig it up to be on the floor?never done anythign like that it's definately do'able what's wrong with the 5 spd? good luck with it post up some pics of the progress!

 

really? i figure most ppl here would want it the other way including me! although it's prolly easier to swap to auto just need the linkage

 

don't forget the flexplate, cooler lines, cooler, and ECU. I don't know if you'll need to change the driveshafts, but most likely the yoke is at least gonna be different.

 

Live near me? we could just swap it all and I could have 5 spd. All though we probly couldn't swap computers, mines a 94

Look for a 46RH (or 47RH) ... you shouldn't need a computer if you keep it hydraulic ... a 46RE will need a PCM swap. You'll also need a cooler.

 

i would like to have a 5spd in my 5.2 but i was thinking it would be costly and tough to do it

 

i am in the same boat with wanting to be rid of my WEAK standard behind my 5.2, and am already looking for something that would be using the same shifter location as what i have
