Default Transmission "fwap"

There was a slapping sound in my tranny while i waited to pull out of my driveway this morning, it went away when i shifted out of drive and once it warmed up. Also, i hear clicking somtimes from the transmission when it's about to shift, i want to say it almost seems like it hesistates a moment then shifts. Just enough to be noticeable. Any ideas? Maybe a shift kit would deal with this?

Never heard of a slapping sound before. sorry. I have heard of a whinning or howling issue in reverse, or a rattling sound if theres air in the system, usually goes away. How many miles on the tranny? Last filter change? Original cooler and check valve? Is it a 46RE or RH? How's the fluid color and level?
Shift kits help by increasing line pressure, but you may have other issues.
