How do you know if your Track Bar is bad?
I went to get an alignment and they said my track bar was bad. I looked at it and tried like hell to move it and it didnt move at all. How did he know it was bad? Needless to say, I couldnt get an alignment because of this. Is this true?
You would have a very hard time moving a trac bar by hand....lol. Even a bad one. A mechanic could align the vehicle from a toe in/out standpoint. But as soon as that trac bar flexed, your steering would feel like it's off again. If you have no extra lift on the truck, there is a place that sells an adapter bracket so you can use a trac bar of an 04+. Not super sure where the styles changed. The newer style though, has no ball stud in it. Just 2 bushings and 2 thru-bolts. The entire install is pretty easy with the right tools.

thanks for the reply! I guess that is why it seems to "wander a bit" everyonce in awhile, huh? Everything else in the front is new, ball, axel joints, swaybar links, tierod ends. everything he said i needed but the track bar. I bought it but didnt replace it cause i thought it was good cause I couldnt move it but I guess I will replace it and that should fix the "wandering"?

You can also go with CPH sales or SourceAutomotive, orWindecker machine. These methods are pretty pricy.
If you don't want to go to that trouble, Lindstad welding remakes the tie rod end with anadjustable tensioner, and Thuren fabrication also makes a H.D. track bar that uses stock mounts.
