Default tranny question....help

i have a 2000 ram 1500 with the 5.9L. if i am at a stop and pin it it rev's out to 5,500rpm and wont shift. it hits the rev limit. if i then let off the gas it will then shift. it only does this in first gear. i have read about the tps sensor and the IAC sensor but not sure if i am on the right track to fix. what should i look for????
thanks!

You need a TV cable adjustment. It's the transmission "kick down" cable.

Yes, you can do it yourself. It could be other things but this is a very good place to start. Here's the 3 pages out of the FSM that tell you how to do it.

Sory, but you did not say if you checked the fluid level and if you try 1 and 2 on your shift and if reverse also works. Do you also have any check engine light on ?

yes i checked the fluid level and it was fine. the check engine light has not came on either. all gears work fine at normal driving but if i am at a stop a floor it, it wont shift out of first. also it has down shifted into first from second going up a hill. when it shifted into second i gave it a little more throttle and it went back into first at like 4'000rpm. not sure buti dont think that it is supposed to do that. i dont know what else to check for?????

You may have a governor shift selenoid issue, or your TPS is malfunctioning. The FSM will tell you how to check the TPS voltage. If it tests good, then I'd start with the harness where it enters the tranny from the PCM and make sure the pins inside are gunk and corrosion free. Its a PITA to get apart, but its amazing what seeps in there.
If that's ok I'd go to the shift selenoid.
