Default RE: 4x4 CAD/T-Case

the tag on the t-case says its an NP241DLD and I have serviced it with AT4 synthetic. The previous owner stated that he had it serviced and fluid was okay when I changed it but since it has 120000 miles and is used, I serviced all fluids fromradiator to axles. I'm sure the problem is in the t-case, not sure exactly what, I wanted to find out more about the cad system and see what others had to say to reasure myself that it was working. I downloaded the service manual from this site and that should help a bunch. Thanks, Bill

No it doesn't disengage intermitenly, when you turn the steering wheel all the way to either direction you get the clicking or poping noise. I thought it was the ujoints so that is why I put it up on stands, but the noise was comming from further back down the truck so I went underneath and followed the noise to the t-case. I do get a growling noise while in 4hi at above 30mph and I am confident that it is also in the t-case. Not being familiar with how the cad system works and how the 4x4 dash light indicator worked, I wanted to be sure that the front axle was fully engaged. You can tell that the axle disengages when in going back to 2hi so I am confident that the front axle and cad system is working. I also checked for vacuume at the t-case and at the axle and it was okay. The front wheels skip while turning sharply in 4hi or 4lo so that indicates to me that it is engaged and working correctly. The problem must be in the t-case so I need to remove the front drive shaft, the front drive shaft also spins freely while in 2hi as it should. I have downloaded the manual from this forum but I havnt had time to take a look. I hope it provides good illustrations of the inside of the t-case. Thanks
