Default Losing Anti-freeze

Can't figure out where my anti-freeze is going. For the past couple of years, I have had to add AF on a regular basis. Not a top off but more like a quart every four months. Can't find any leaks. I have the truck on a driveway so if it was leaking I would at least see a drip but nothing. I'm not putting out any white smoke and the truck runs great and passthe emissions test each year.I recently had a miss when it was raining or foggy but that was my stock wires and with MSD replacements, the truck purrs. My mileage is 12-13 with mixed C/H. I can't figure out where it might be going. I feel it must be going into the engine and being burned off otherwise I would see it somewhere. Any ideas?

if your water pump has not been replaced recently it might be seeping out around the pulley shaft. if so it will gradually get worse to where you will see it in the driveway after driving and while its still hot.

Have you tried some of that stop leak stuff I think. Mine was doing the same thing. We did a pressure test on it and nothing showed up. So we put some of that stop leak stuff in it and it fixed it.

Be sure to check your oil when you do the oil change. A leaking intake manifold gasket could allow antifreeze to leak into the lifter valley and then down into your oil pan. If you are like me and change your oil about every 8 to 10 weeks, you wouldn't notice the 1/2 quart of antifreeze in the oil when changing it. Just before your next oil change, let the truck sit overnight then look at your dipstick. See if you can tell if theres any A/F on the stick.

I just replaced my intake manifold gasket because it was leaking anti-freeze down the back of the engine.

Good luck.

These trucks sometimes develop a small leak around the thermostat housing or hose also. Becaause of the location being buried on top it is not always obvious. If it is small enough it will not drip down and puddle.

Could be air in the system and it's blowing coolant out of the overflow when the truck gets hot. Mine did that for a while after I rebuilt the engine and drove from Oklahoma to Alabama. I burped the air out and it's been fine ever since.

When I replaced my plenum gasket, I also found my thermostat housing gasket leaking. It was such a small hole that when ever it would leak out it would immediately evaporate from the hot engine. The only trace it left was some sludge where the leak had formed. My situation was similar to yours, it wasn't leaking in a drastic amount but every couple of months I had to add a little more.

This one is a puzzler. I know it's got to be going somewhere but I don't know where it is. It's not in the oil. On oil changes, I left the oil in a container to see if I could see antifreeze. Nothing. It's definitely not blowing out of the expansion tank since I have to fill the radiator at times. Also, I would see a full expansion tank when the truck is hot. It's bone dry. I have looked and looked around the thermostat housing. Poked around with a long Q-tip type of swab to find green AF. Nothing.

Any thoughts of a head crack and the antifreeze going into the cylinder and being burned? I would think I would get some type of a miss or see white smoke out he tail pipe. Nothing. I'm stumped and I constantly add a quart of AF every four months. This has been going on for years and the truck runs great. Not a drop of AF has ever been found. Because it runs so good, it has to be leaking somewhere. The truck is on a black top driveway. Green is easy to spot on black. Nothing. Must be evaportating on the hot engine but I don't get the sweet AF smell. Thanks for the replies. I just ran the truck hard and I will search again around the thermostat housing.
