Water pump and heater core
Little over a year ago a heater core and serpentine belt cost me $545.00 Labor was $364.00. From what I looked up pretty much the whole dash comes out just to get to it. As for water pump I'm not sure. That I would probably do myself.
My cousin whos the lead mechanic at a dealership just changed our heater core in our Durango and he was done in about 3-4 hours...... maybe to try and save sum money..... find a mechanic that does side jobs.....
Just got my 95 ram back from the deal that I bought it from. They took care of the water pump after it failed two days after I took it off the lot. They footed the whole bill for just the water pump and tighten the valve covers they said it was a 750$ job.
Well I am changing my heater core on wednesday. The core cost $80 at advance, I am buying new hoses too. maybe $20- $30 more. Labor is free, Im doing it myself. I will probably be changing the water pump in the near future too, but I havent checked the prices on those yet. Good luck.
If you take your time you can save yourself alot of cash doing it yourself. There are alot of writeups on waterpumps and some on heater core, not a difficult job just have to remove alot of things.

I bought my new water pump for my 95 Ram from Napa and had it in the same day. $125 I think but had to buy the stupid fan wrench. Not too complicated and that's coming from someone who knows nothing.
i will be the next member of the new water pump club. had to go into work for a little while today, came out about 8:30pm, cranked up truck to come home and had all kinds of god awful noises coming from engine - ticking, banging, clanging, whining. watched belts running across pulleys and water pump pulley was moving in/out about 1/4 - 1/2 inch, antifreeze slinging out. tryed reving it up good, rpm's should help right, not. pump was dragging so bad it would stall the engine at idle. removed belt and engine ran fine, quiet, no noise. other pulleys feel ok. had to leave it in the parking lot and call wife to come get me.[:@] i'm just glad it layed down and died close to home rather than far away. 130k miles, probably the original pump, although i really don't know because i've only had it for a year. battery charger on old faithful chevy, got to get it cranked and drive it for a few days.
