Default Cold start

Whenever I first start my truckit cranks for like 5 seconds before it starts. It doesn't sputter or anything it starts right up, but it just seems like along time. After the engine is warm if I start it then it'll turn over immidiatley. Is this a normal thing? It has been really cold around here latley. Under 25 for the last 3 weeks and under 10 for about half that.

The fuel pump is probably starting to go out. You might want to check the pressure. I think 40 - 45 psi is about what you want to have. Others will correct me if I'm wrong.

I would look to a dirty/sticking IAC. I understand it mimics the choke you would find on a carburated engine.

Have you tried to crank the engine holding the gas pedal just a little bit down ?

No I haven't, I didn't think you were supposed to do that with fuel injectors. Thanks for all the answers guys. I'll check this stuff out. Feel free to keep em coming.

Pease forgive me, this is a bad idea and a bad way to check this on our truck. Thank you for your correction.

My guess is the fuel pump is going. This happened to me on my last ruck to the point where i would not start. I replaced the furl pump and solved the problem
