on my 98 ram the mirrior cracked, i just noticed about a week ago when looking at it there was a ( shaped line and i didnt think it was crach cause you couldent feel it but then i went out yesterday and u can feel it now, my question is can i buy just the mirror it self and not the hole assembly and does anyone have a mirror? (its drivers side) and will this effect my heated mirrors...?

When I bought my Ram the convex mirror on one of my towing mirrors was busted, dealer would only sell me the entire mirror assembly, around $200 if I remember right. A glass place should be able to make something for ya and would be cheaper than goin to the dealer

Check the local junkyards. They usually don't care abouttrim partsso they might let you have it for free.

Both of mine were like that on my 1998 and you'll never guess where I found them for about $12 a piece.....O'Reilly Autoparts. I went in an ordered them and they were in the next day. If the ones you currently have only have a small crack then these stick right over them however if there are pieces missing then put on long sleeve shirt, gloves, and safety goggles a break out the rest with a small hammer. In my case I had to break them out because my model has heated mirrors. Hopefully this helps and will save you mney.

It doesn't matter if you want to retain the heating aspect you have to get all of the old glass out first. The heating element is a sticking peice of plastic with metal heating elemnts zig-zagging through it. Once you have gotten ALL of the old mirror out ( I used a metal scraper) then you will take the 2 pieces of 2-sided tape that comes with the new mirror and stick 1 piece at the top and the 2nd at the bottom. Then carefully line up the new mirror and press on. It fits perfectly in the trimming and you can't even tell that it's a replacement. I live in South Texas and the 2 I bought has been through the rain, the cold, and the heat and I have had zero problems. I would go through O'reilly autoparts if I were you because the Autozone carries the same brand but they put me through a wild goose chase. If you need the part no's call the O'Reilly Auto Partsin Wharton,TX there's only 1. Ask for Fred or Reggie and tell them Nicco sent you. They will need the info off of your truck then they will give you the part no.s
