squeaky, any answers
when my truck is in park or in idle i have a squeak from the belt or one of the parts that the belt rolls on, its a 94 dodge ram sport it has a new wp and alternator any ideas, thanks yall. john
I had the same exact problem with mine a couple of weeks ago, changed the belt tensioner (about $60) and it is quiet as can be now.
There is actually a post on here that shows a step by step instruction.
Good luck

Be careful with the wd-40 so you don't get it on the belt, but it's a great trick.
I personally don't care much for belt dressing, thou I keep a can around for emergencies, it tends to do as much harm as good.

ok well i tried the wd40 trick and took the belt off and sprayed the bearing behind the roller and and the joint where it gets its tension from it stopped for a min with a light squeak and picked up again the tensioner seemed to be working fine, but its back and i dunno what it is maybe it could be just the belt cause it is a little shiny on the backside i have read it is not suppose to be shiny. maybe i will just have to replace the belt with a mopar belt. any suggestions what about the idler? thanks john

they have an item called a mechanics stethascope. instead of the pad on one side like the medical ones, it has a pointed rod. touch the rod to various parts under the hood while the engine is running, and you can figure out what pully is making the noise
well i tried the stethescope and didnt find anything abnormal i guess im going to have to replace the belt tensioner and pulley with some good ole mopar parts, and see if that helps, should my fan spin freely with the motor off? maybe its the clutch? thanks john
