2001 Ram 150 4x4 I am trying to replace the clutch packs in rear end. The beveled disk that holds tention on clutches had broken and also the retainer clips . can someone please help me with support on how to get the two spider gears and cup washers back in.
I can get the packs in but not the Two spider gears its just to tight. does the carrier have to come out to reassemble it .if so do I need to back off the cage looking adj. rings that I can see when looking in the axle from the wheel ends. what kind of tool can I make to back them off.

so I cant get the two spider gears back in and cant get the whole carrier out either.I need to get this done tomarrow (friday)

someone that has done it before please give me instructions or a web site and or pics.

we made two botls with washers on them to stick in the gears and tightened the bolts to seperate the gears

 

Was the carrier out on the bench when replacing clutch packs

 

when you dont have the tool to reach in the axle tube to back off the adj rings to get the carrier out WHAT CAN I USE ?[sm=headbang.gif]

Im done. Took carier out and used bolts and washers to compress clutch packs and side gears and knocked spiders around and in place with brass punch.
