Default fuel filter

i need some help here fellas.i have a 1998 dodge ram1500 5.2. i had some really bad sputtering going on in my truck, to the point where my truck was shaking a bit will driving. i took it in to my mecanic that knows my truck well and he first said the injectors were bad, so he cleaned them, put them back in and the problem with the sputtering after a little drive occured again. so he took the same injector out and it was very dirty again. then they said it has to be the fuel filters and figured out that ithas aNONSERVICEABLE fuel filter. i dont understand.can someone explain this.

The fuel filter is part of the fuel pump module in the tank.

check your intake manifold to see if the plenum gasket is leaking and sucking oil down the intake. That will clog the injectors quick......Dallas

What and where exactly are the fuel rails? Sorry, but I am having hte same probelm and my fuel pump is fairly new. But you can change the fuel filter without changing the entire fuel pump. correct?

The fuel filter is part of the fuel pump assembly which is in the gas tank...hence the nonservicable..if you just replaced the fuel pump then you have a new fuel filter as well. Have you had a general tune up?? Bad plugs can cause that sputtering as well. Mine was doing that. You'd get going and get about 55-60....and the truck would shake..almost like it was the tranny...but the plugs were bad. Just a suggestion.
