O Sensor Help
I searched other threads and can't find an answer so here goes...
I have a 2001 5.2l with stock exhaust. I can;t figure out how many pre and post cat oxygen sensors I have. I saw one before and one after but have heard there are two before (left & right). Any help would be appreciated.
Oh and suggestions on brands would be helpful. Thanks.

dont know about a 2001 model, but my 99 5.2 has two. both pipes off manifold come to passenger side where they both go into one cat. then single exhaust out back. one sensor is in the cat itself, then another behind about a foot in the exhaust pipe between cat and muffler. had a muffler shop argue with me that dodge didnt make one like that, and it had to have two cats. mine is all dead stock except my cat is gutted. cant recommend a brand as i am not using any at the time.
I'm not sure on your model, it depends on various things, such as whether it has dual exhaust and of course, the year and engine size.
As a rule, if it's a light duty truck (1500-2500) with that size engine and a single exhaust pipe, again I don't know for sure but my '95 D-2500 w/ a single exhaust and a 5.9L v8 apparently had only ONE o2 sensor, and it was hooked into the catalytic converter, near the front, where it connects to the pipe leading to the Y that in turn leads to the manifolds.
Having read 2 Marks reply, I will check into this again and look up under it to see if I don't find a 2nd sensor about a foot behind that one lol... It doesn't make much sense, but little surprises me anymore.

my 01 5.2 has 2 sensors, one before the cat and one after.
(my wifes 98 explorer b6 has 4. one in each pipe befoe the y, one after the y and before the cat and one after)
