I have the firestone bags in my truck paid probably twice as much but love them max PSI is 100 I've had them at 90 those bags look a little cleaner mounted then the firestones though. looks pretty good

The Firestones are now quite a bit cheaper than I could find the Timbren's for now.

 

I just ordered a pair of these. Supposed to be here Friday or Monday. Once I get them installed, I'll post how good they are. This seems like a better solution than swapping out a 3/4 ton axle. I start moving to my new house the end of August, so I'll have plenty of experience with them driving the 27 miles over the mountain and driving on the 1 1/2 miles of washed out dirt road that lead up to my property.

 

After a bunch of calls and a couple emails I can say, forget these Firestone helpers. They are only for the rear axle with the new coil spring setups. Otherwise they only fit on the front axle of 94-01 Rams.

Yeah, these are captive air springs. They are sealed and can only be adjusted by spacers. They have changed my order to Firestone 8620, which are for the rear axle. They have a maximum weight capacity of 2500# each. No spacer = about 1500# capacity per side. 1 spacer = 2000# capacity and the 2nd spacer = 2500# per side. The guy at the store said the more spacers, the stiffer the ride, so I'll use just one spacer.

 

that's too bad, i was thinking it was identical to the timbren, which has gone up a lot in price.

the timbren's are awesome. i can't say enough good things about them.

just make sure you've got enough brake to stop your load, and don't get too cocky with going too fast. a heavy load is still a heavy load and you can't react the same as when you're empty.

if you got a heavy camper or something else with a lot of tongue weight, go ahead and install the solid rubber spacer to put the weight on the rubber spring right away, with no 1 inch sag gap. ride will be firm with no gap.

 

I drive like an 80 year old woman even when empty.

p.s. The Firestone 8620 is the same thing, but made for the rear axle. It's the same price, so it's a good alternative to the more expensive Timbren unit and it can go on either 4x2 or 4x4's.

Looking at installation instructions and photos, neither the Firestone 8620 or 8621 look correct for a 2nd gen rear axle with leaf springs. Can anyone confirm if Firestone actually makes a kit that fits? Most sources seem to say "no" but there are a lot of versions of this thing which leads me to believe SOMETHING fits.

The timbren version clearly has a bracket that replaces the old bump stop base which is rectangular in shape.
