Weird Idle problem
I have a 97 1500 2wd with a 318.
Sometimes, it will not idle. It will just shut off and I have to drive it with 2 feet to keep it running. Other times, it will idle just fine. Other than that, no problem.

I just had the same problem. ( see my posts) Get a can of carb cleaner - a toothbrush and clean up the throttle body.
Leave the truck off. Take the air cleaner off - spray some cleaner in the TB and hold it open with your hand - scrub everything you can reach. Wait for some of the fluid to evaporate befor you start it. clean the PCV valve and line with the same carb cleaner. Scrub and spray as much as it takes to clean the TB openings. Be careful not to drop the toothbrush in. After 5 min, fire it up. Take the PCV valve and spray some carb cleaner in the valve and let it get sucked in. It'll sound like it wants to stall, so do it in small doses. Reattach the PCV and air housing if it works.
I had to use a prop to hold the peddle down a little after i started it and i worked fast. But she idles better than ever now.
I dont know if thats the problem, but for a $3 investment, might be worth a shot.
Good luck.
