Default steering gear box......issues............

Im having some issues with my stock steering gear box... in Jan of 05 my steering gear box was leaking fluid and being my 2000 ram 2500 4x4 with 90000 miles was still under an aftermarket warranty i decided to let them replace it,and of course they insisted on givng me their part with a lifetime warranty. providing i pay the 100.00 ded.. sounded good at the time...... july. Of 2006 my box again started leaking...... and again paid $100 and they replaced the part... thinking it was a bad part..... but now Mar of 2007 im really becoming quite torqued..................its leaking agian..or shall i say pouring out.......Now heres my question do i need a heavier duty part being im running 35" tires with a 4" lift or are their parts just plain junk..........................im really at wits end..........do these dodges have an issue with steering boxes...

steering boxes are weak, and can fail under the stresses of big tires and lifts. your case is worse than most, but you are probably getting crappy replacement boxes that are even weaker than the originals. $$$ rule.

edit....added this... copied from pavementsucks.
you might as well remove your $400 half ton steering box and replace it with the better $200 one ton model. Don't ask why we screw you on 1500 parts pricing. (That was the bean counters’ idea)

i've seen these, but don't personally have one.

you might want a tougher steering box. psc is one.

I don't have a lift, I am running stock tires and have been through a couple steering boxes. I agree dhvaughan, money makes the difference.

If you buck up for one of the PSC Heavy Duty or Extreme Duty's you won't have any problems. They're a bit pricy, but not a whole lot more then a factory one at regular price.

Has anyone tried using a stock 1 ton box, as described on pavement ?
