98 Ram mod options- what would you do?
I have a 98 Dodge Ram Quad cab w/ the 5.2 V8. The truck has about 125K on it right now. I love the truck but its kind of a dog. I installed an electric exhaust cutout on it to improve the sound and response to the engine but I just want to get more gitty-up from it. I think I will install some headers on it, possibly chip it, and add a cold air intake to let it breathe.
Anyone have any recommendations as to what I could do to make it jump a bit more. I don't want to cam it, or change gears too much because I am on the interstate a fair amount. I don't want to lighten it cause that loses practicality.
I think my biggest problem is my other car is real fast...esp compared to this so I always feel like I am creeping around.
I am open to all suggestions/opinions.
Thanks all in advance!

Well, you can't ever really compare a truck to a car because the weight differences are astounding. And trucks are built to haul/tow/get up and over, the set-ups are much different.
Do a search on this site for various mods and you will find what you're looking for. Good luck!

You can gear it up a little this won't hurt an overdrive trans. Also a set of stainless Steel JBA headers will help greatly along with a Flex-a-Lite 294,290, or 295 dual electric fan. These items cam be found at www.summitracing.com. They have the best price. If you can dual the exhaust as much as you can and either lose the cats or install a set of freeflowing race ones. You are on the right track with a cold air preferrably a K&N with the plastic tube. I agree with TMS Bill about the chip, get a programmer. This right there oughta put you in the ball park.....might even be faster than your car.
Thanks for the responses all. I am going to go w/ a new throttle body, the CAI, and probably go w/ the programmer. Any recommendations as to where to get a programmer for my application?
Thanks again for all your responses
