A couple days ago I thought I'd check my O2 sensor since it looked old. It was all covered with thick black stuff. Luckily I had some STP air intake cleaner layin around. Cleaned thestuff off like it was nothing.

I pulled out the o2 sensor and it was all black no oil on it or anything. Sprayed some electric cleaner on there and it seems like it took some of the blackness away. Are they supposed to be like a chrome color or something when they are clean?

well for me, there was white plastic i think, and it was like a cage to the actual sensor.
