Default feel pop when turning

When I turn the truck, even when at a dead stop, I fell a pop in the sterring wheel and the floor board. It feels similar to when you are missing a lug, or your lug nuts have worked loose. I checked the lugs and they were fine. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas?

Check the front end components to make sure they don't have play...ball joints, L-links, rods, etc....if it's 4wd, make sure the axle joints aren't binding.

With the assistance of another person, climb under the truck have them move steering wheel slowly side to side and keep an eye on all joint area's, see If there is slack in the movement along the steering/suspension area. I would also look at control arm bushings as these are a common problem. Also look at your steering shaft.

After checking the F.E. for any play, i would definately suspect the steering shaft as being the source of the noise.

When you perform the above observations ... if you're lucky, you should be able to see (and hear) the culprit when it "pops". Look at every component on that front end.

My money's on the track bar ... wadaya think?

If you're talking about control arm bushings ... relatively a major undertaking. Sway bar bushings ... piece of cake.

I'd like to do my control arms ... replace the rubber with urethane. It's all about time ...

I think, I will replace them all with urethane, if I ever put a liftkit on it. Since I have moved to Arizona, from Missouri, all the rubber bushings and seals are drying out and some are starting to crack. All The bushings in the suspension looked solid when I check tonight. I think I just have some play in the steering. It has started pulling to the right a lonore lately.

Sounding more and more like a worn out track bar, Dude. Common problem on 2nd Gen Rams.

I think you might be right. The more I think about it, it also has a bit of a wobble when I pull into the driveway.I will have to look int that. Is it a pain to replace the track bar?
