Default auto > man swap, comp ?

When considering swapping from auto to manual, what variables do i have to consider as far as the computer needing input from the trans?

I had a buddy who did this on his Cherokee, all he did was get an manual, put it in, and jump the park/neutral switch that comes on the autos. Works great. Does make the CE light come on though.

Easiest is get the trans and a PCM wfrom a truck with the same engine/trans you have.

Just looked up PCM's for 96 1/2-tons ... apparently they DO get SOME input from the tranny because there are different computers for autos and sticks ... even 94's had different ones.

i swapped my 96 and didnt need to change the computer and it runs fine. it might be throwing codes. i couldnt really tell you i pulled that light out a long time ago. a friend of mine owns a dodge dealership and their top mechanic told me that the computer shouldnt matter anyway

That's right ... now I remember having this discussion before. '98 and up need a PCM swap ... '97 back shouldn't.
